You can file your taxes online, by mail or in person. 

All library locations provide free computer and wi-fi access where you can complete and file your taxes online, as well as printers and scanners for paper filing. See more information on Computer Access and Printing.

Library Locations and Hours

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) partners with local communities to provide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. Help is also available through the IRS's Taxpayer Advocate Service.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

We partner with Boise State University (BSU) to provide free tax help at the Downtown Library. Schedule an appointment at TaxHelpID.org. Drop-ins are welcome. Sessions are typically on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but may vary so be sure to check the library calendar for more.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)

We partner with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program to provide Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) at the Library! at Hillcrest. Sessions are Mondays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., February 1st through April 11th, 2024. Make your appointment in person. Please bring your documents with you in case you can be seen right away. You do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to use this service. All Tax-Aide volunteers are IRS-certified. Preparing for a Tax Help Appointment

The IRS Publication 3676 form lists what you need to bring to your tax help appointment. 

To prepare for your VITA or TCE tax help appointment, complete the Tax Help Intake Form, IRS Form 13614-C -
